Audrey Spanko receives 3.5X more individual donations in July than opponent received from January to June
MINEOLA, TX — Aug. 3, 2020 — Today, Audrey Spanko, candidate for Texas Senate District 1, announced her campaign received donations from 86 individuals in the month of July — more than 3.5 times the 24 individual donations her opponent, Bryan Hughes, reported receiving from January to June.
The average donation to Audrey Spanko for Texas Senate in July was $53. From January to June, Audrey Spanko received 247 donations — 10 times the individual donations Hughes reported receiving for the same period — averaging $59 a donation.
Hughes has also received 101 donations from special interest political action committees (PACs) this election — Audrey Spanko, meanwhile, only accepted two PAC donations, proving she isn’t cozy to corporate and big business PACs. Unlike her opponent, Audrey Spanko will never let PACs bankroll her campaign or put special interests ahead of working East Texans.
“We are running a people-powered campaign. East Texas is in play this election, and we are showing that Texas is the biggest battleground state in 2020,” Audrey Spanko said. “My opponent isn’t backed by the people — he is backed by lobbying firms, corporate PACs and special interest groups. Together, East Texans will push our campaign to a win on November 3 and restore their voice in the state Legislature.”
